Interview with Fixe Magazine
by Cary When I was about 15 my boyfriend at the time bought home a pair of handcuffs and other toys, and I became instantly attracted to particular elements of fetish/BDSM. At 15 year old and living in a small town, I didn’t know anyone else who was into that sort of stuff besides myself and my boyfriend. But after moving to a city a few years later, I was easily connected with like minded people into fetish/BDSM and discovered a whole other world which has since become apart of my work and play and sex life. I love it! I wont let on too much, but I will say I love ropes, whips, ball gags, latex and being dominated. I love being dominated…. I am not interested in golden showers, anything to do with faeces, or anything with a bad smell look and taste! It is empowering, You feel in control, sexy, dominating. You are taking control of yourself, contorting yourself in ways you never would unless well, maybe in bed. You have power of yourself and the work you’re portraying. And it turns you on. I feel the best half naked, dressed in latex, stilettos, make up and posing in front of a camera. The classic beauty of it all. Everything is so detailed, from the hair, make up, clothing, ornaments, style! Its vintage, its classic, its beautiful. The girls are perfect, not a hair out of place. I am a very neurotic person who strives for perfection in almost everything, so the Pin up style fits me perfectly. Everything about it attracts me. I love the music, the lifestyle, the cars, the boys, the girls, the style, the history behind it. Its fun, girly, sexy without it being to in your face, unlike fetish modeling, which is a lot more confronting than pin up modeling, but with saying that, pin up modeling has changed a lot over the past couple of decades. Its more about the sexual side of women than the classic beauty showing some leg and a cheesecake smile. I do love to model pin up, especially modern pin up, where I can be more expressive and diverse in my posing, outfits etc. Latex, lingerie, sky high heels. Most of my modeling is done half naked, with certain standout pieces such as lingerie, head pieces and shoes. A lot of my older work is pin up, rockabilly inspired, lots of leopard, corsets, black lace and custom lingerie. I am now leaning towards more latex, leather, long latex and pvc coats, chains, pasties, red tape and well done makeup. Daggy, uninspired outfits. Things a costume designer has just picked up without thinking of the model and the concept. I do believe you can make almost anything work if you incorporate your own style, and make it work for you, but there are some things that you just shouldn’t try and things that no matter how beautiful you are, how fit you are, it will just not flatter you. Definitely. Pop Icons like Madonna, have been showcasing the fetish lifestyle in her style and performances for years. Pop stars like Katy Perry, who wears a lot of Latex have made Latex much more mainstream. I’m seeing it on lots of musicians, pop icons, models and actresses/actors. I think musicians like Lady GaGa have opened up fetish to the mainstream culture and used it just for popularity appeal. I see a lot of girls wearing chains, fishnets, lots of black, leather, pvc and latex in everyday wear. Which I think is cool if it suits them. If you can pull it off go for it, but it can be a little disappointing when I see people just wearing or doing the fetish/pin up style just because its popular. But I guess its like everything in life. You can’t keep it hidden from the mainstream culture. People are going to be interested in different things for different reasons. All sorts. My top bands and genres are very varied. Horrorpops would probably be my all time favourite! And Danzig. My god do I love Danzig!! I love Etta James, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Aretha Franklin. Strong female vocalists are inspiring and they have so much backbone and depth to their music and lyrics. Well, at least the classic artists do! I grew up listening to Bob Marley and reggae with my parents, then in my teens I found Punk and hardcore and that become my life. I listen to everything now. Rockabilly, Surf, Soul, Blues, Punk Rock, Hip Hop, Hardcore. ALL OF IT, I LOVE IT! Music is the most important thing to me. Sing. I am a singer and music if my absolute life! Performing and Singing is my soul purpose in life. I love writing lyrics, and just writing for my own pleasure and i love baking and cooking especially for my partner. I don’t think there’s anything more satisfying than having hot cookies or cupcakes waiting for him when he gets home haha. Watching movies, finding new music, reading, finding concepts for new shoots and researching everything and anything.
